JAGERMEISTER DERBY 2009 Hi everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful 4th of July!! The weather was fantastic!! I wanted to share a little of what I did over this past weekend. We got invited to a party hosted by Claudia & Patrick Farrell. Many of you know Pat & Claudia. For those of you that do not, Claudia owns and operates "Good Food Catering". Patrick, I'm not too sure what this guy does, if anything!!?? Only kidding!! Pat is a life-long resident of Valatie. He has worked at the Dutch Inn years ago as a bartender. He does something for NYS, not too sure, but it involves collecting rocks on the side of state roads!
Anyway, back to the party. Every year they host a road race. The Jagermeister Derby, as it is called. Racing participants will construct a non-motorized cart/car to journey down a hill, and the fastest time wins the elusive "Jager Cup"!! This was the first year we actually got to see this first-hand. Unlike years past where racers got taken away in an ambulance, we didn't get to see any blood and guts from wipeouts. BTW the race takes place on a hill, that is how they get there speed. Besides a prize for the fastest time, they also present a plaque to the car that best exemplifies the "Jager Spirit".
After the race, we headed over, with the 150 other guests, to their home. Claudia can cook!! Steamed clams, homemade sausage on a homemade dill roll, chicken wings were just some of the treats we were given. Not to mention all the beverages a 42 year old male needs to stay hydrated with. I wanted to thank Claudia and Patrick for their amazing hospitality!! What hosts! I would hate to have to clean up the next day!! YOU GUYS ROCK!
